How do I volunteer?

We’re so excited that you’re interested in serving at The Light KC! Volunteering is a meaningful way to make a difference, connect with others, and be part of what God is doing in our church and community.
As 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us, "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms." We believe that God has uniquely equipped every person with talents, gifts, and passions, and we’d love to help you discover how you can use them to make an impact for His Kingdom.
We have a variety of areas where you can serve, including Kids Ministry, Student Ministry, Hospitality, Worship, Tech, Outreach, and more! There’s a place for everyone to use their gifts and passions.
To get started, visit the Next Steps tab on our website or stop by the Welcome Center to complete a Volunteer Signup/Application. This helps us learn more about you, your skills, and  interests.

How do I volunteer with kids?

We believe that children are not just the future of the church—they are a vital part of it now. By volunteering in Kids Ministry, you’ll have the opportunity to share God’s love, build relationships, and help kids grow in their faith in a fun and engaging environment.
Serving opportunities within Kids Ministry include teaching or assisting with bible lessons and activities, welcoming families by being apart of the Check-In Team, or helping plan and lead special events throughout the year!

Once you’ve filled out the Volunteer Application, you’ll be contacted by a team leader to attend an orientation or training session.
Because the safety of our children is a top priority, all Kids Ministry volunteers are required to complete a background check and attend a safety and child protection training.

How do I volunteer with students?

How do I volunteer with music?

This ministry is a powerful way to invest in the lives of middle and high school students, helping them grow in their faith and navigate a critical stage of life. There are many opportunities to serve within Student Ministries, including helping lead discussions during weekly Bible studies, assisting with events, or chaperoning outings. Each role plays a vital part in pointing students toward Jesus and supporting them as they develop a firm foundation in their faith.

 Once you’ve filled out the Volunteer Application, you’ll be contacted by a team leader to attend an orientation or training session.

Do you have a passion for music and a heart for worship? We invite you to volunteer for our Music Team at The Light KC. Whether you're a vocalist, instrumentalist, or have skills in sound and production, your talents can help lead our congregation in heartfelt praise and worship. By joining the Music Team, you'll be part of a dedicated group that enhances our services and creates a powerful atmosphere of worship. Share your gifts, grow in your faith, and make meaningful connections with others who share your love for music.
